analysis of "kimagure romantic" by ikimono gakari

essentialy this song is a build-up to an undeniably jolly dance. I am interested in its transmission of social (and daydream) constructs prior to the full jolly dance emergance. Try viewing it through once before continuing -- I had it reasonably lucky, having seen the fully emerged jolly dance in a little snippet on the TV, and I followed the clues to here. Also, I am a soft touch.

Prior to the social constructs we get 16-bit video game mimickry -- the "press start" intro screen isn't really compatible with the 2-d apparently real-world-set rpg -- dragonquest 5 meets Mother and maybe a bit of sailormoon "Another Story"
(I enjoyed this game to completion via emulation somehow) (I sort of enjoy this video to completion somehow also) -- an "arcade game" become rpg, and there is a "aiming to pop a balloon" thing later in the video, it is incongruent, so is the fast-food, hospital, fantasy castle thing -- but this is okay, everyone likes incongruence in their pop nowadays.

I have been wondering whether it is a propaganda-type compilation of societal roles, to encourage the youngsters to take their place. From this thought I consider the weight of anyone born in this world with its pre-extant shape, in to which you shall have to fit in one way or other.

I suppose that is what "role-playing" is ultimately about. The unquestioned hierarchies in most rpg societies.

Still, there is a jolly dance at the end of it.

What we put up with

  1. Yeah, betty/nancy, you seem nice but you leave odd links about you.

It is worth saying that the jolly dance doesn't begin until 3min and 33 seconds.
